Rule Scopes
There are three text areas, each scoped to a different channel:- Advanced Rules - Instructions that apply to both call and chat conversations. Use this for general guardrails, FAQ content, objection handling, or any guidance that should always be in effect.
- Advanced rules for call - Instructions that only apply to voice call conversations. Useful for call-specific behavior like pacing, tone of voice, or how to handle silence.
- Advanced rules for chat - Instructions that only apply to chat conversations. Useful for formatting guidance, link sharing, or chat-specific interaction patterns.
Using Variables and Actions
Each text area supports the same rich editor as other prompt fields. Type/ to insert variables and @ to reference actions within your rules.
Click the expand icon in the top-right corner of any text area to open a full-screen editor with a live Markdown preview.
When to Use Advanced Rules
Advanced Rules are best for instructions that apply broadly rather than to a single conversation step. Common use cases:- FAQ answers the agent should always know
- Guardrails and compliance requirements
- Tone and communication style guidelines
- Channel-specific formatting or behavior differences
