Overview

The Custom Pronunciations page allows you to define how your AI agents should pronounce specific words, names, acronyms, or phrases during calls. This ensures your agents speak naturally and correctly, especially for:
  • Company names and brand terminology
  • Technical jargon or industry-specific terms
  • Names of people or places
  • Acronyms that should be pronounced as words
  • Words that text-to-speech engines commonly mispronounce

Adding Custom Pronunciations

Custom Pronunciations Click + Add Voice in the top-right corner to create a new pronunciation.

Choose a Voice

Select which AI voice should use this custom pronunciation from the list of available voices. Each voice can have its own set of custom pronunciations, displayed with country flags indicating language/accent (e.g., 🇺🇸 for US English).

Define Pronunciation

Pronunciation Once you select a voice, configure the pronunciation: Original Word Enter the word or phrase exactly as it appears in your agent’s script or responses (e.g., “Gabi”). Pronunciation Type how the word should be pronounced phonetically using standard spelling (e.g., “Gabby”). The AI will interpret this phonetic spelling when speaking. Preview Click the play icon (▶) to hear how the pronunciation sounds with the selected voice before saving. Delete Click the trash icon (🗑️) if you want to remove this specific pronunciation entry. Click + Add Pronunciation to add multiple word/pronunciation pairs for the same voice. This is useful when you have several terms that need custom pronunciation.

Best Practices

  • Use simple phonetic spellings that the AI can interpret naturally
  • Test pronunciations with the preview feature before saving
  • Keep pronunciations consistent across similar voices
  • Add pronunciations for all commonly used terms in your scripts
  • Use hyphens to control pacing (e.g., “C-E-O” for letter-by-letter pronunciation)
  • Update pronunciations if you notice errors during call reviews
  • Document unusual pronunciations for team reference
